Managed IT & Support
Co-managed IT
For organisations that already have internal IT capability and need depth, cover and specialist skills rather than a replacement.
The problem co-managed IT solves
A single internal IT person is a single point of failure. They cannot be on call every night, cannot hold deep expertise in security, cloud, networking and your industry systems simultaneously, and cannot take annual leave without the organisation holding its breath.
Replacing them is usually the wrong answer. They hold relationships, history and local knowledge that an external provider takes a year to rebuild. Co-managed IT keeps that and adds what one person cannot carry alone.
How the split usually works
- Your team keeps user relationships, floor-level requests, local knowledge and the internal project relationships
- We cover after-hours and weekends, escalation depth, security operations, cloud and network architecture, and vendor management
- We provide the monitoring, ticketing and documentation platform, so there is one shared record rather than two
- Leave and absence cover, so the organisation does not stop when one person does
- A roadmap you both work from, reviewed quarterly, so priorities are agreed rather than contested
Being honest about where this goes wrong
Co-managed arrangements fail when the boundary is vague. If nobody has written down who owns patching, who owns the firewall rules and who answers at 2am, both sides assume the other has it. We set that boundary in writing during the outcomes stage, before any work starts — and we revisit it at each quarterly review, because organisations change.
Common questions
Does our IT person report to you?
No. They stay your employee and your organisation sets their priorities. We work alongside them against a shared roadmap.
What if our internal person leaves?
The documentation, monitoring and vendor relationships are already in our platform, so the organisation does not lose its environment knowledge with the individual. Many co-managed clients move to fully managed IT at that point; others recruit with us covering the gap.
