Managed firewall
A firewall is only as good as the last time someone looked at its rules. In most environments we inherit, that was during installation.
Managed, not just supplied
- Firmware and signature updates applied on a schedule, inside a maintenance window
- Rule review on a cycle, because rules accumulate — the temporary exception opened for a project three years ago is still there
- Segmentation design, so guest Wi-Fi, gaming, POS, clinical systems and corporate traffic are separated rather than sharing one flat network
- Logging and alerting into the same monitoring that drives MDR
- Remote access controlled, with vendor access time-bound and logged rather than permanently open
- Configuration backed up, so a hardware failure is a replacement rather than a rebuild
Segmentation is the point, for clubs especially
A club is one of the few environments where public guest Wi-Fi, a regulated gaming network, a payment system and back-office finance all coexist on one site. Flat networks in that context mean a compromised guest device sits on the same broadcast domain as the gaming floor.
Segmentation is unglamorous, invisible when it works, and the single highest-value network change available in most venues we audit.
Vendor and platform
We hold the partner relationship and escalation path for WatchGuard, which is the platform we manage directly. Where you already run something else and it is fit for purpose, we will say so rather than manufacture a reason to replace it.
Common questions
We already have a firewall from our internet provider. Is that enough?
Sometimes, for a small single-site office. Rarely for a venue or multi-site service — ISP routers generally lack the segmentation, logging and rule granularity these environments need, and nobody is reviewing them.
